We think most of the stuff we did is pretty intuitive, but just in case that's a misconception of a programmer and web designer, here are a few pointers. None of the links in this particular section will actually work. They're just examples of the color and style.

Construction

Bet you'd never guess what this is for! Of course, this little icon goes next to the new stuff. It'll probably hang around for a couple months and then move on to the next new stuff -- we hope!

Colors

You'll find a series of text links to all the First Baptist Church pages at the bottom of each page. On some of the larger pages, you'll also find a series of links to sections within the page at the end of each section. Here's a look at what a set of these links might look like.

Home -- An unvisited active link to a page or section.
Virtual Church -- A visited active link to a page or section.
Administrivia -- A placeholder for consistency. You're already here!

Printing

In case you hadn't noticed, most of the text on our site is white. And for Netscape, at least, you need to set one little print option before you start printing -- otherwise the white text is very hard to read! :-) In Netscape 3.x just make sure you check the File->Page Setup window and verify that the "Black Text" option is checked. That'll keep you from wasting a page or two of paper. In Netscape 4.x you need to set the same option -- and it's even located in the same place! This doesn't appear to be a problem in Internet Explorer. We haven't checked any others.

Browsers

There are a few special Netscape features here and there, but nothing too off the wall. No frames! There is a little JavaScript, but no Java code. No ActiveX. Very few animated GIFs. No audio or video. Just basic text and graphics. We're just here to deliver a message and provide some basic information about our church, not to show off our web skills! Wow! Was that a soapbox, or what? Anyway, We've tested these pages with Netscape and Microsoft IE versions 3.x and 4.x, and the AOL built in browser and everything looks OK to us.
